Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

This privacy policy applies to the Borg Backup Explorer app (hereby referred to as "Application" or "App") for mobile devices that was created by insoso GmbH (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a free app with pro options. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

The Application does not obtain any information when you download and install it. Registration is not required to use the Application.

The Application uses a proxy server on the internet in order to forward your Borg Backup repository requests to the host or your backup. This means, that all connection information you provide to the Application is routed through one of our servers. In the other direction, the proxy server receives information from the host of your backup, including archive names, details, and file contents.

For the transfer or such data, HTTPS is used. The proxy server does neither store nor log the proxied information. There are no caches or sessions used on the server. The information is just passed through in a stateless tunnel.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

The information passed through the proxy server is neither stored nor logged. So the data is neither available to insoso GmbH, nor to any third parties.

Does the Application collect precise real time location information of the device?

This Application does not collect precise information about the location of your mobile device.

What are my opt-out rights?

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Children

The Application is not used to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. insoso GmbH takes reasonable measures to protect the proxy server from any unauthorized access. Still be aware of the architecture of the software, and the risk of your data being accessed by unauthorized individuals: Do not use the software for accessing information that needs high levels of protection.

Liability

insoso GmbH can not be held liable for any problems or damages occurring through the use of the Application and related software. In particular, insoso GmbH takes no responsibility for unauthorized access to data, information or credentials.

Availability

We provide no guarantee for the availability of the services backing the Application.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to their Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes. This privacy policy is effective as of January 1, 2025.
